Furthering Sustainable Design at the 2007 Greenbuild International Conference and ExpoThe U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) 2007 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo November 7-9 in Chicago brings people together to discuss the environmental, social, and business benefits of green building. Architects, building owners, engineers, educators, and government agencies will gather to share ideas and discuss critical issues like climate change, water conservation, and improving human health. During this summit, participants will also address the skills students need to succeed in the industry and how to best leverage curriculum materials such as the Autodesk Sustainable Design Curriculum and other resources. November 7, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Opening PlenaryDuring last year’s Opening Plenary, Phil Bernstein, vice president of Autodesk AEC industry strategy and relations, announced that Autodesk had entered into a strategic relationship with the U.S. Green Building Council aimed at expanding the use of technology and to facilitate further adoption of sustainable design and green building. November 7, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Autodesk-sponsored e² design ScreeningFor the second year, Autodesk is sponsoring the e² design PBS documentary series and introducing a new series called e² energy. Co-hosted by the USGBC, this invitation-only screening of the episode “The Future: 2030” takes a look at how those serving in government to architects, regulatory agencies and building suppliers are working to avoid a global warming crisis through policy change and education. After the screening, a panel of industry thought leaders, including Ed Mazria, Rick Fedrizzi, and Phil Bernstein, along with Susan Szenasy as moderator, will discuss the film and the pressing issue of global warming and the latest trends in technology and sustainable design.
