Furthering Sustainable Design at the 2007 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo

The U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) 2007 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo November 7-9 in Chicago brings people together to discuss the environmental, social, and business benefits of green building. Architects, building owners, engineers, educators, and government agencies will gather to share ideas and discuss critical issues like climate change, water conservation, and improving human health.

Autodesk at Greenbuild Expo 2007

This will be Autodesk’s third consecutive year attending the Greenbuild Expo, and the company is planning several major announcements and events at this year’s show.

For press attending this year’s Greenbuild Expo, you’ll find Autodesk at McCormick Place West Building, Booth 820, and the following events:

November 6, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Sustainable Design Education Summit

Please join Autodesk, members of the USGBC’s education committee, and leaders from academia and the architecture/building industry to discuss building information modeling (BIM), green building, and design education. During this summit, participants will also address the skills students need to succeed in the industry and how to best leverage curriculum materials such as the Autodesk Sustainable Design Curriculum and other resources. The event will be held at McCormick Place West Building, Room 193.

November 7, 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.: Opening Plenary

During last year’s Opening Plenary, Phil Bernstein, vice president of Autodesk AEC industry strategy and relations, announced that Autodesk had entered into a strategic relationship with the U.S. Green Building Council aimed at expanding the use of technology and to facilitate further adoption of sustainable design and green building. Please join us during this year’s plenary, for an update on the USGBC-Autodesk relationship.

November 7, 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m.: Autodesk Press Conference

Please join Autodesk Vice President Phil Bernstein along with representatives from the USGBC to discuss findings from this year’s Autodesk/AIA Green Index Report and to answer questions surrounding Autodesk’s ongoing relationship with the USGBC. The press conference will be held at the press conference room, McCormick Place West Building.

November 7, 5:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.: Autodesk-sponsored e² design Screening

For the second year, Autodesk is sponsoring the e² design PBS documentary series and introducing a new series called e² energy. Co-hosted by the USGBC, this invitation-only screening of the episode “The Future: 2030” takes a look at how those serving in government to architects, regulatory agencies and building suppliers are working to avoid a global warming crisis through policy change and education. After the screening, a panel of industry thought leaders, including Ed Mazria, Rick Fedrizzi, and Phil Bernstein, along with Susan Szenasy as moderator, will discuss the film and the pressing issue of global warming and the latest trends in technology and sustainable design. The event will be held at the Field Museum, 1400 S. Lake Shore Dr, Chicago, 312.922.9410.
