Improve collaboration with plant and civil design professionals using the ‘Universal Connector’ which provides connectivity between piping systems created in AutoCAD® Plant 3D and AutoCAD® Civil 3D® software. Place a Universal Connector in AutoCAD MEP at an open end of an externally referenced yard pipe system drawing created in Civil 3D or Plant 3D and smoothly connect the building pipe systems.

Duct System Routing Preferences Enhancements
AutoCAD MEP helps designers and drafters improve productivity and meet industry standards when creating duct systems. Enhancements to the Duct Routing Preferences allow you to route and lay out duct systems per design specification.

1-Click Fitting Replace
MEP designers and drafters can replace fittings with 1 click to make design changes more rapidly. The new Replace Fitting tool allows MEP designers to automatically replace a calculated and corresponding fitting between several MEP segments. Design changes can be made quickly allowing you to swap an elbow for a tee or vice versa, helping you to increase productivity.

Multiple Symbol Planes in MvParts
AutoCAD MEP now allows multiple symbol planes for MvParts. With this new functionality you can define the top, front and left symbols separately in Content Builder which allows MEP designers and drafters to create symbolic representations of parts and equipment for construction documentation while maintaining a model based representation.

Revolve in Content Builder
MEP designers and drafters can now use revolved geometry in Content Builder to create more complex shapes to more accurately represent real world equipment. The new revolve tool gives you flexibility to create complex spherically shaped parts and equipment which can be used to model more accurate systems.

Layer Key Component Display Enhancement
Optimize documentation with enhanced flexibility and control over how your design is visualized. The Display enhancement has the capability to display all components of a building element and provide more organized documentation.

Transparency Integration
Visualize design intent by increasing the transparency of architectural and MEP objects and components in your design. You can control how you want each component to be defined with easy-to-use new transparency controls for individual display components, allowing you to collaborate more effectively. 

Content & Catalog Browser Migration Enhancement
AutoCAD MEP building systems design software allows designers and drafters to upgrade and enhance company standard equipment catalogs. New data settings in parts and equipment will be automatically added to your company catalogs when they are migrated, enabling you to access them when you need them.

Schedule Table Enhancement
This powerful scheduling feature allows grouping and subtotaling of categories. You can now organize the schedule table based on the needs of your project. Similar data can be grouped, formatted, and subtotaled at different levels. MEP designers and drafters can also export the grouped and subtotaled schedule to a Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheet as well.

Schedule Tag Enhancement
Schedule tag enhancements help to increase accuracy and enable more control over how tags and tag attributes are rotated to align with objects. When you have text above other text, when rotated, the primary text will always be above the secondary text—this helps to document the building systems design more effectively.

Industry Foundation Class (IFC) Enhancements
Collaborate more efficiently with Industry Foundation Class (IFC) enhancements that allow you to work with extended team members who use a different file format.  AutoCAD MEP 2013 building systems design software includes support for IFC file format and includes recertification from buildingSMART for importing version 2x3 IFC files.
