Accessing the trial

There are two options for accessing the AutoCAD LT trial from the internet.

1. Download
   Download a free* 30-day trial of AutoCAD LT 2013 or AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac software. The trial download is the full build of AutoCAD LT software.
   
   An advantage of using the downloadable trial is that you can easily convert the AutoCAD LT trial software already on your computer to a commercial license with a purchased activation code (see How to Purchase below). An internet connection is not required to run the trial software once it is installed.
   
   To install the AutoCAD LT trial download for Windows:
   
   • Close all open applications.
   • Click "Download".  In Internet Explorer then click "Run", click "Run" again and then "Install". In Firefox, click "Save File", once file is saved, click on exe icon in dialog box.
   • Select "Install".
   • Follow the "Installation Wizard" instructions to complete the installation.
2. Online test drive
   
   Get free* online access to AutoCAD LT 2013 software for 30 days. Download the player and follow the steps below to access AutoCAD LT online. The benefit of using the online version of the AutoCAD LT trial is that you do not have to first download the complete software. Rather, you need only download an installer (less than 1 MB).
   
   When the installer runs, it will search your system for the needed prerequisites. If any prerequisites are missing, the installer will download and install them. The installer will download up to 7.54 MB during the install process.
   
   Note that your trial access will only be on the computer that the player is installed on. You must have an internet connection and be online at all times when using this version of the trial. You can access data from and save files to your computer while using the online trial.
   
   Online Trial Minimum System requirements
   The online trial cannot be accessed from a Mac computer. However, the download trial is available in Mac or PC versions.

   Once the player installs, follow these usage instructions:
   
   • Double click on the AutoCAD LT Online Trial Icon from the desktop or from the Start Menu.

Any person who lives in the United States or Canada can use the AutoCAD LT trial.

How many people can use the AutoCAD LT 2013 trial?
Only one AutoCAD LT 2013 trial is allowed per computer.

When does the AutoCAD LT 2013 30-day trial begin?
The AutoCAD LT 2013 trial runs for 30 consecutive calendar days from the moment you first run the application. To run the AutoCAD LT trial download, double-click the icon on your desktop or launch the application from your Windows® Start menu. On Mac double-click the icon in the Applications folder.

The online test drive trial will automatically launch after the install is complete. After the first use, to run the AutoCAD LT 2013 online trial, double-click the Autodesk trial player icon on your desktop or launch it from your Windows start menu.

Can I extend my AutoCAD LT 2013 trial beyond the 30 days or sign up again for another 30 days?
No, only one 30-day period of the AutoCAD LT 2013 trial is possible per computer.

What version of the trial can I download?
Download:

How to Purchase

How can I convert my downloaded trial to a full commercial license?
The downloaded AutoCAD LT 2013 and AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac trial builds are the same as the full commercial products, so you can easily authorize and convert your AutoCAD LT trial version into a permanent license version. Use the product serial number located on purchased physical media or a serial number purchased from the Autodesk Online Store to activate your software. There is no need to uninstall the trial and install purchased media – you can simply convert the software already installed on your computer.

If you choose to use the online version of the AutoCAD LT trial, you will need to download and install the software upon purchase.

Do I have to uninstall the downloaded trial application before I install a purchased license of AutoCAD LT 2013?
You can convert a trial installed on your computer to product commercial license by visiting the Autodesk Online Store. A serial number will be emailed to you after license purchase. If you do not activate the trial, it is recommended that you uninstall the trial prior to installing a purchased license of AutoCAD LT 2013 software.

How do I purchase after using the online test drive trial?
You can purchase a license of AutoCAD LT 2013 or AutoCAD LT 2013 for Mac as a download or DVD at the Autodesk store.

Compatibility

Can I run AutoCAD LT 2013 side-by-side on my computer with AutoCAD LT 2012/2011/2010 or other previously licensed Autodesk software?
Yes, AutoCAD LT 2013 is designed to run side-by-side with other AutoCAD LT releases, enabling you to make a smooth transition to the new AutoCAD LT release. The migration features of AutoCAD LT 2013 (not available for Mac) can help you make a smooth transition to the new release by automatically migrating customized menus, hatch patterns, linetypes, and command aliases.

Can I uninstall the AutoCAD LT 2013 trial without affecting my other software products?
Yes, but you must not uninstall shared files when prompted.

Will I lose access to any data from my current AutoCAD LT software while I use the trial?
No. Installing and running the AutoCAD LT 2013 trial will not affect data or your other software. The previous installations and data will not be affected even if you choose to migrate the settings from a previous version of AutoCAD LT to your AutoCAD LT 2013 trial installation.

Will any data that I create in the AutoCAD LT 2013 trial be useable in previous versions of AutoCAD LT?
AutoCAD LT 2013 software introduces an updated file format to accommodate technology and performance improvements in the software. AutoCAD LT 2013 can open drawings created with previous versions of AutoCAD LT and AutoCAD software, and enables you to save drawings in a wide variety of other formats, ranging back to R14 DWG and R12 DXFTM formats. Most data created in AutoCAD LT 2013 is backwards-compatible, although some new object types are not supported in previous versions. When the file is opened in an earlier version, these objects could be represented by proxy objects, which have reduced functionality compared to the original object. Saving a file as a previous DWG™ format, such as 2007, and reopening the file in AutoCAD LT 2013 will not cause any compatibility issues.
