Issue

You may experience installation problems after failed installs or uninstalls of other Autodesk products. In these cases, it is strongly recommended that you completely remove AutoCAD® Electrical 2008 from the system and then attempt to reinstall it.

Solution

To uninstall AutoCAD® Electrical 2008 and remove any remnants of the product from your system, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start menu (Windows) > Settings > Control Panel.
  2. In Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs.
  3. Uninstall AutoCAD Electrical 2008
  4. Verify that the following folders have been removed from the hard drive. (Note: The folders may have already been removed):
    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Acade 2008
    • C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Acade 2008
    • C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2008
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\AutoCAD Electrical 2008
  5. Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
  6. In the Run dialog box, enter regedit
  7. Verify that the following keys (folders) have been removed (Note: The keys may have already been removed.):
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6007:409
    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6007:409
    • HKEY_USERS\X-X-X-XX-XXXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXXXXXX-XXXXX\Software\Autodesk\AutoCAD\R17.1\ACAD-6007:409

Note: The ACAD-6007:409 keys can be searched and deleted from the Registry, also. This will eliminate all traces of AutoCAD Electrical 2008 from the Registry.
  8. Restart the computer, logging on as Local Administrator.
  9. Disable Anti-Virus, Anti-Spyware, Firewalls, Norton Utilities, or any other programs that may interfere with the installation.
  10. Install AutoCAD Electrical 2008

Warning! If Design review is still installed it will not be reinstalled with the AutoCAD Electrical 2008. This should not affect the AutoCAD Electrical 2008 installation.

If the AutoCAD Electrical 2008 installation fails, follow these steps:

  1. Take screen captures of any error messages or dialog boxes that are displayed.
  2. Open the Temp folder and look for the following files, if they exist:
    • AutoCAD Electrical 2008 Setup.log
    • Acade2008Install.log
    • Install-log.txt
    • Autodesk Design Review Install.log
  3. Add these files to a ZIP archive and include them in your support request (Subscription Customers only) or send them to your Autodesk reseller, if requested.
