Upgrading Autodesk Data Management Server for Civil 3D® 2007 to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Issue
You would like to know how to upgrade the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. Solution
To upgrade the Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition - Download Microsoft SQL 2005 Express Edition from the Microsoft web site.
- Before you start the upgrade, you should create a backup using the Vault Manager application. During the backup, the web service will be stopped and no one will be able to connect to the server.
- Close the Vault Manager once the backup is complete, but do not restart the web service.
- On the server, start the installation of Microsoft SQL 2005 Express Edition.
- During the installation, you will be asked if you would like to upgrade a current SQL Instance. Select the Instance option, and then select Autodesk Vault from the drop-down list.
- Select the default options for the remaining questions to complete the upgrade.
- Once the upgrade is complete, open Windows Explorer and navigate to the <installdir>\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL.1\MSSQL\Install directory.
- Double-click the instmsdb.sql file, which should then open in SQL Management Studio.
- Log in to the Autodesk Vault instance and execute the script in the database.
- Once the script is complete, close the Management Studio.
To restart the web service - Open Vault Manager and log in.
- Perform another backup from Vault Manager.
- Once the backup is complete, start the web service from the File menu.
