Autodesk Network License Manager compatibility with IPv6 Issue
When attempting to log on to an Autodesk Vault server, you received the following error message on a client workstation: Failed to acquire a license Solution
This error can occur if the Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) component is enabled on your server's operating system. There are 4 ways to resolve this issue: Method 1 Disable IPv6 on the system with the FlexNet License Manager software. For detailed instructions, refer to the following Microsoft Knowledgebase article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929852/en-us Method 2 Use the IPv4 IP address of the FlexNet server in the LICPATH.LIC file: - On the computer where you have installed the Autodesk Vault Server, open Windows Explorer.
- Navigate to the <install path>\Autodesk\ADMS edition 2010\ directory.
- Using Microsoft Notepad, open the licpath.lic file.
- On the first line, replace the server name with the IPv4 address of the FlexNet server.
- Save the file and close it.
Method 3 To remove the IPv6 Protocol for Windows XP: - Log on to the Windows XP computer with a user account that has local administrator privileges.
- Open a command prompt. From the Windows XP desktop, click Start menu > Run.
- In the Run dialog box, enter cmd and click OK.
- On the command line, enter ipv6 uninstall
- Restart the system.
Method 4 If you must use IPv6 in your network, download and install the IPv6-compatible FlexNet License Manager available at http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL10976858.
