Error opening DWG files natively on 64-bit operating systems

Published date: 2008-Sep-25
ID: TS1089627

Applies to:
Autodesk® NavisWorks® Manage 2009

Issue

When you tried to open a DWG file natively in a NavisWorks 64-bit installation, you received the following error message:

No plugin exists that will open [filename]

Solution

RealDWG™ 32-bit is used to read DWG, DWF, and SAT files natively in Autodesk® NavisWorks®. When it is run on a 64-bit operating system, it produces very inconsistent results and causes crashes. For this reason, the native DWG file reader for NavisWorks 2009 is not installed on 64-bit operating systems.

As a work around, you can use the NWCOUT or NWDOUT commands to export your data from the AutoCAD application as an NWC or NWD file, respectively.
