| Diagnostic test for client computer experiencing network licensing errorsIssueYou are unable to obtain a license from the Autodesk Network License Manager server, and you want to perform diagnostic tests on the client computer. SolutionVerify that the client computer can communicate with the server. You can do this by performing a network “PING”, which is a procedure that sends a small amount of information to the server and requests that the server send a reply back to the client computer. Follow these steps: - Click Start menu (Windows) > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
- In the Window Command Prompt window, enter PING <servername>
Note: Replace <servername> with the actual name of your server. - If you see a response similar to the following, your computer can reach this server:
Reply from 192.168.0.1: bytes=32 time=2ms TTL=128
- If you do not see the line above, but instead see a response similar to one of the following lines, then the server cannot be reached, and you should contact your IT department or Administrator to verify your network setup and ensure that the correct server name is in use:
Reply from 192.1681.0.1: Destination host unreachable.
or
Ping request could not find host <SERVERNAME>. Please check the name and try again.
If the PING test was successful, then you have established that your client computer can create a simple network connection with the server and that the server name was resolved to the correct IP address. You should now verify that the server running the Autodesk Network License Manager is setup correctly.
