SAT file import error: Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs

When you tried to import an SAT file into Autodesk Inventor®, you received the following error message:

Modeling failure in ASM. Redefine inputs.

You can only import SAT files that were created with ACIS® modeling kernel version 7.0 or earlier. This error indicates that the SAT file that you tried to import was created with a newer version of the ACIS modeling kernel.  

To determine the version number of an SAT file

  1. Open the SAT file with Microsoft® Notepad.
  2. Look at the first line of the file, and note the version number. For example:
    • SAT - Format 15.0 - 1500 0 1 0 (1500 = SAT version 15)
    • SAT - Format 14.0 - 1400 0 1 16 (1400 = SAT version 14)
    • SAT - Format 7.0 - 700 0 1 0 (700 = SAT version 7)

Only SAT files with a version number of 700 or less can be imported into Inventor®.
