Opening multiple drawings in a single session of Land Desktop 2007
In Autodesk® Land Desktop 2004, 2005, and 2006, the SDI (Single Document Interface) system variable was set to 3 (SDI = 3) by default. In order to support new AutoCAD functionality, Autodesk Land Desktop 2007 now runs with the SDI system variable set to SDI = 0 by default. However, Land Desktop commands will only work in one document at a time. This is referred to as SDI simulation. Extensive testing has been performed to ensure that this simulation has no impact on Land Desktop commands. For more information on the SDI system variable, see the SDI System Variable Help topic in the AutoCAD® 2007 Help file.
If you have opened extra drawings you should quit the Land Desktop session, and then reopen the drawing using either the Land Desktop Startup or Open dialog boxes.
Warning: The options listed below for opening multiple documents in Land Desktop 2007 could result in data crossing between different projects.
Using the Sheet Set Manager.
Using the error recovery toolspace.
Using .open on the command line.
There are several other ways you can open multiple documents in Land Desktop 2007 without encountering this issue:
Using the AutoCAD Open, New or Startup dialog boxes.
Using the External Reference Manager.
Using the File History.
Pressing CTRL, and then dragging and dropping the document from Windows Explorer to the drawing window.
Double-clicking on a .dwg file in Windows Explorer will open the file in an open session of Land Desktop.
You should also make sure that the Land Desktop Overrides for the New, Open and Startup dialog boxes are enabled. Follow these steps:
- On the Projects menu, click User Preferences.
- In the User Preferences dialog box, under AutoCAD Overrides, select the check boxes for the following three items:
- New drawing dialog box
- Open drawing dialog box
- Use Land Desktop Startup
Note: Do not double-click on drawings in Windows Explorer because the correct version of AutoCAD might not be used.
