Using an IP address in place of server hostnameIssueWhen you specify the license server, you want to know if you can use an IP address instead of a hostname. SolutionWhen you are building product deployments using the FlexLM/FlexNET License Finder dialog box, modifying the LICPATH.LIC file or setting the ADSK_LICENSE_FILE environment variable, you are prompted for the hostname of the license server machine. If the license server cannot be found automatically, it is acceptable to use the IP address of the license server in place of the hostname. Using dynamically assigned IP addresses is not recommended because these addresses may change and render the product temporarily unusable. To avoid this situation, you should assign a static IP address to the license server machine. Note: Hostname resolution problems could indicate serious configuration issues with your network. Using the IP address of the license server will work around name resolution problems, but it will not solve them. It is strongly recommended that name resolution be operational and that hostnames be used in the configuration of all Autodesk network-licensed products.
