When clicking F1 in 3ds max 6 to get help on a dialog or menu you are taken to the main page of the 3ds max 6 Reference rather than to the specific topic pertaining to that UI component. In order to activate the context sensitive help which is available on some UI components (but not all), download this zip file, extract the two files, and replace the following two files:

  • \3sdmax6\help\max_reference.chm
  • \3sdmax6\help\max_reference.chw

We recommend you back up the 2 files which were installed with 3ds max 6 until you have tested the functionality of the new files.
