Using the licpath.lic file for Autodesk® network license enabled products
You want to know what the purpose of the licpath.lic file is and what the format should be.
The network installation creates a licpath.lic file. It is created on the client workstation for a client installation, and created in the run-tree folder on the server for a network heavy installation. The licpath.lic file specifies which license server the client communicates with to obtain a network license.
The licpath.lic file must be in the following format:
SERVER <server name> <Host ID>
Following is an example of a good licpath.lic file:
SERVER SERVERNAME1 a0c987654321
When an Autodesk® application is started from a client computer, it reads the licpath.lic file to determine which server it should try to obtain a license from. The product then sends a message to the license server listed in the licpath.lic file and requests a license. If the license server is reachable, is properly configured and running, and has licenses available, the license manager assigns a license to the computer. The application session then starts on the workstation.
Note: If you use the environment variable ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE to point a workstation to Multiple license servers (a distrubuted server model), the listed servers will take precedence over the setting of the licpath.lic file.
