| Obtain authorization before installing the Autodesk® License Manager toolsIssueYou want to know how to obtain a license file before installing the Autodesk® License Manager (AdLM) tools (lmtools.exe). SolutionYou may want to obtain a license file before installing the AdLM tools. To obtain a license file, you need to supply the following parameters from the license server:
To determine the server name and MAC address:
- Open a system Command prompt window.
- Enter ipconfig /all at the Command prompt.
Information about the network configuration is displayed. If multiple network cards are displayed, be sure to select the MAC address of a network card. Do not use the MAC address from a modem or virtual adapter. The server name is displayed as Host Name, and the MAC address is displayed as Physical Address. Record these values. The MAC address should be recorded with no dashes or spaces.
You can now contact Autodesk to obtain the authorization code.
