The Autodesk® Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler is a freeware application that allows object data created in Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 to be accessed outside the Autodesk Architectural Desktop environment.
Note #1: The Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler has two available installers, MSI and EXE. The MSI installer uses a smaller setup file; it's quicker to download, but requires a previous installation that used the Microsoft® Installation wizard. The EXE installer uses a larger setup file; it takes longer to download, but does not require a previous installation that used the Microsoft Installation wizard. If you download the MSI installer, and it does not work for your application, download the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler (10.0 MB).
Note #2: The Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler cannot be installed on a system that has either AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2.0 or AutoCAD Land Development Desktop Release 2.0 installed.
Note #3: If you are installing the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler on a system that includes an AutoCAD LT 2000i installation, you must install the AutoCAD LT® 2000i Service Pack 1 prior to installing the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler.
Note #4: If you are installing the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler on a system that includes an AutoCAD® Land Development Desktop Release 2i installation, you must install the AutoCAD Land Development Desktop Release 2i Service Pack 2 prior to installing the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler.
Note #5: To install the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler on AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i, you must have previously installed AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i Service Pack 1. Only then can the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler be installed on AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i. Installing the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler creates a separate shortcut named AEC 3.0 Enabled Version of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2i.
If you start an Autodesk Architectural Desktop session from the original Autodesk Architectural Desktop shortcut, the DBX files associated with this release will load, and you will only have access to existing Release 2i objects as well as the commands related to this release.
If you start an Autodesk Architectural Desktop session from the AEC 3.0 Enabled Version of AutoCAD Architectural Desktop 2i shortcut, the DBX files associated with Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.3 load, and you can access the new objects specific to Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3 and 3.3. However, commands from AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i are disabled. Customers using AutoCAD Architectural Desktop Release 2i can then open files from Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3 or 3.3 without the need to save these files in AutoCAD® Release 14 format. By eliminating the need to save files in AutoCAD Release 14 format, the potential for data loss is reduced.
Note #6: If a drawing includes architectural objects from a previous release of Autodesk Architectural Desktop, and it is saved from an Autodesk application with the Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3.31 Object Enabler installed, those objects are converted to the newer versions specific to Autodesk Architectural Desktop 3 and 3.3. After the architectural objects are converted, they can only be opened as proxy graphics in previous releases of the software. To avoid this situation, use the appropriate Object Enabler version to open these drawings.
