How to download software from the Education Community using the Browser Download method

Scenario

You need help downloading student software from the Education Community using the Browser Download method.

Solution

This method uses the built-in file download mechanism of any web browser meaning you won't need to install additional download management software.  As compared to the other methods, in-browser downloads are less efficient, and less reliable when saving large files.

Recommeded if you cannot or prefer not to use the Autodesk Download Manager.

To use the Browser Download method:


  1. Log into the Education Community and click Free Software from the main menu.

  1. Select the Product you want to download, choose your Version, Language and Operating System and then click Next.

    Note: For Windows systems, 32-bit or 64-bit refers to the version of your operating system, which you can check by going to Control Panel > System . You must choose the correct version in order to use the software.

  1. In the download method drop down, select Browser Download.

  1. Depending on which web browser you're using, you may be prompted to click Run (Internet Explorer) or the download process may start automatically in your download window/bar (Chrome, Firefox or Safari).

    When the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file or click Run again.

  1. When the download completes, the Destination Folder tells you the location where the Product Installer will be saved.  While it is customizable, we recommend continuing with the default location by clicking Install.

    Note: The Product Installer is not the actual product itself.  You'll need to launch the product installer in order to install the software on your computer.
