How to download software from the Education Community using the Download Now method

Scenario

You need help downloading student software from the Education Community using the Download Now method.

Solution

The Download Now method uses the Autodesk Download Manager, which enables an optimized download that is significantly more efficient and reliable than conventional browser downloads.

Recommended if you want the best download experience but want to install at a later time and/or on a different computer.

Note: This download method does not support the Windows 8 Metro browser at this time.

To use the Download Now method:


  1. Log into the Education Community and click Free Software from the main menu.

  1. Select the Product you want to download, choose your Version, Language and Operating System and then click Next.

    Note: For Windows systems, 32-bit or 64-bit refers to the version of your operating system, which you can check by going to Control Panel > System . You must choose the correct version in order to use the software.

  1. In the download method drop down, select Download Now.

  1. If you haven't already, you'll first need to download and install the Autodesk Download Manager (DLM). You may be prompted to click Run (Internet Explorer) or it may start automatically in your download window/bar (Chrome, Firefox or Safari), depending on your web browser. 

    When the download is complete, double-click the downloaded file or click Run again.

  1. Read the DLM License Agreement, select I Agree and click Install.

  1. The DLM will then begin downloading your software. To save the download in the default location (recommended) click OK.


  1. You can pause or resume at any point during the download.


  1. When the download is complete, click Install to begin installing your software immediately or click the folder icon to install at a later time.
