System requirements for Autodesk Softimage

This document provides the system requirements for Autodesk Softimage products.

System requirements for Autodesk® Softimage® 2014

Softimage 2014 is supported on the following 64-bit operating systems and at the minimum requires a system with the following 64-bit hardware:

• Windows® 7, Windows® 8 Professional, or Fedora™ 14 Linux® operating system
• 64-bit Intel or AMD multi-core processor
• 4 GB RAM minimum (8 GB recommended)
• 2 GB of free disk space for install
• Refer to the recommended hardware wizard for a detailed list of recommended systems and graphics cards
• The latest version of Microsoft® Internet Explorer®, Apple® Safari®, or Mozilla® Firefox® web browser to access online supplemental content
• 3-button mouse

Autodesk is not responsible for errors or failures of Autodesk software arising from the installation of updates, extensions, or new releases issued by third-party hardware or software vendors for the certified software or hardware identified in this document (or for any other third-party software or hardware that you may use in connection with Autodesk products).

For 32-Bit Autodesk Softimage 2013

• Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional operating system (SP1), or Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional (SP3) operating system
• Intel® Pentium® D processor workstation (or higher)
• Certified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® 1.5 (or higher) professional graphics card with latest graphics driver available from vendor
• DirectX® 9.0c application programming interface or higher (recommended for support of the advanced features of DirectX 9 application programming interface)
• 1.5 GB free hard drive space. Setup requires additional temporary disk space for the system’s temporary folder when decompressing files during installation.
• 2 GB of RAM
• 1,280 x 1,024 screen resolution recommended
• 3-button mouse
• A web browser to view HTML documentation
• Microsoft® Internet Explorer® internet browser 7 or higher
• Mozilla® Firefox® web browser
• DVD-ROM drive

For 64-Bit Autodesk Softimage 2013

• Microsoft Windows 7 Professional operating system (SP1), , Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition (SP2), or Fedora™ 14 operating system
• Intel Pentium D processor workstation (or higher)
• Certified hardware-accelerated OpenGL 1.5 (or higher) professional graphics card with latest graphics driver available from vendor
• DirectX 9.0c and higher (recommended for support of the advanced features of DirectX 9 application programming interface)
• 1.5 GB free hard drive space. Setup requires additional temporary disk space for the system’s temporary folder when decompressing files during installation.
• 4 GB of RAM
• 1,280 x 1,024 screen resolution recommended
• 3-button mouse
• A web browser to view HTML documentation
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 or higher
• DVD-ROM drive

Notes:

Microsoft Windows

• To run Softimage, you can be a Restricted user (Users), Standard user (Power Users), or Administrator.
• To install and license Softimage, you must be an Administrator.
• Autodesk does not support 32-bit applications running on 64-bit machines.
• A license for Softimage will activate both the 32-bit version and the 64-bit version of Softimage. The setups for the 32-bit and 64-bit versions can be run from the Softimage DVD or accessed via download.

Linux® operating system

• Softimage 2013 is also capable of running on other configurations, such as boutique distributions of Linux. However, enumerating systems that are not tested and cannot be supported or that fall below the requirements for a productive user experience is beyond the scope of the online certification charts.

For 32-Bit Autodesk Softimage 2011

• Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional operating system, Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business operating system (SP2), Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional operating system (SP2)
• Intel® Pentium® D processor (minimal)
• Dual Quad Core Processor Workstation (Intel® or AMD® processors) (recommended)
• Qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® 1.5 (2.0 & higher recommended) professional graphics card with latest graphics driver available on vendor’s site
• DirectX® 9.0c technology and higher (recommended for support of the advanced features of DirectX® 9 application programming interface)
• 1.6 GB free hard drive space. Setup requires additional temporary disk space for your system’s temporary folder when decompressing files during installation.
• TCP/IP service protocol installed on both client and server computers.
• 2 GB of RAM minimum and recommended for 32-bit operating systems
• 1280 x 1024 screen resolution recommended
• Three-button mouse
• Network adaptor with internet connection for licensing (non-internet connected licensing is also supported)
• DVD-ROM drive if installing the software or browsing the media from the Softimage.
• A web browser to view any HTML documentation
• Internet Explorer® internet browser version 6.0 or later to use the Net View tool

For 64-Bit Autodesk Softimage 2011

• Microsoft® Windows® 7 Professional operating system (Recommended), Microsoft® Windows Vista® Business operating system (SP2), Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional operating system (SP3), Fedora™ Core 11 operating system
• Intel® Pentium® D processor (minimal)
• Dual Quad Core Processor Workstation (Intel® or AMD® processors) (recommended)
• Qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® 1.5 (2.0 & higher recommended) professional graphics card with latest graphics driver available on vendor’s site
• DirectX 9.0c and higher (recommended for support of the advanced features of DirectX® 9 application programming interface)
• 1.6 GB free hard drive space. Setup requires additional temporary disk space for your system’s temporary folder when decompressing files during installation.

• A Softimage license will unlock both the 32-bit version as well as the 64-bit version of Softimage. You can run the setups for both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions from the software DVD or download the appropriate setup.

Linux® operating system:

• Softimage 2011 is also capable of running on other configurations such as boutique distributions of Linux. However, these are neither tested nor supported by Autodesk.
