Error 1905 when uninstalling Autodesk Design Review

Issue

When uninstalling Autodesk Design Review 2012, following error message displays:

Although the dialog shown in Fig 1 is related to Autodesk Design Review, a similar error message could potentially show up when trying to uninstall any Autodesk Product. Error 1905 is a Microsoft Windows error and its occurrence is rare.

Explanation

This problem could potentially occur when uninstalling any software product. This is a permission issue that prevents the file from being removed during installation.

Solution

• Ensure you have administrator rights on the machine
• Type Regedit at the Windows Command line
• In the registry, locate  HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AUTODESK\<product name>
• Browse to the folder/file displayed in the error message and select the file
• On the Edit menu select Permissions
• Set the permissions to “Full Control”
