  • Missing selections from drop down menus such as such currency or catalog when creating new projects.
  • No selections listed under Edit > Preferences > Mapping.
  • The user interface is non-responsive when clicking palette tabs to open palette windows.

Solution

These issues can occur if there is a corruption in the user configuration files for Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2012.  You can reinitialize these files by renaming the user.config file as described below:

  1. Close Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2012.
  2. Copy one of the following folder locations into the address bar of Windows Explorer depending on your operating system:
     - Windows XP: %USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk,_Inc\
     - Windows Vista or Windows 7: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Autodesk,_Inc\
  3. In this folder, open one of the following subfolders depending on whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit:
     - 32-bit: Autodesk.Takeoff.exe_Url_jzjvzpyw0lajnuabv3q1qyaesuopzk1v
     - 64-bit: Autodesk.Takeoff.exe_Url_us15efswbxuumf4v4jp04lwefijke2eg
  4. In this folder, you should find a folder 5.0.16.0 that contains the user.config file. Rename the user.config file.

The next time you open Autodesk Quantity Takeoff 2012, the user.config file will be regenerated and your configuration files and the user interface will be reinitialized.
