AutoCAD for Mac Services & Support

AutoCAD will not launch following a crash on Mac OS X (Lion)

Issue

You have experienced a crash of AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT running on Mac OS X 10.7.x (Lion) and subsequently AutoCAD will not launch any more.

Solution

You can recover from this condition by deleting the saved state for AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT using the following steps:

  1. Open a Terminal window (the Terminal app is typically found in the /Applications/Utilities folder).
  2. Type:
      cd ~/Library/Saved\ Application\ State
    and press return.
  3. For AutoCAD, type:
      rm -rf com.autodesk.AutoCAD.savedState
    and press return.

    For AutoCAD LT, type:
      rm -rf com.autodesk.autocadlt.savedState
    and press return.
  4. Quit the Terminal application.

You should then be able to launch AutoCAD normally.
