This document provides the system requirements for Autodesk Simulation Mechanical/Multiphysics.

System Requirements for Autodesk Simulation Mechanical 2014

For 32-bit and 64-bit Windows:

  • Windows® 8; Windows® Server 2012; Windows® 7 Home Premium, Professional, Ultimate, or Enterprise edition (SP1); Windows® XP Professional (32-bit: SP3); or Windows Server® 2008 R2 SP1[1] operating system
  • Intel® Pentium® 4, Intel Xeon®, Intel Core™, AMD Athlon™ II, or AMD Opteron™ or later (2 GHz CPU speed or higher)[1] processor
  • 2 GB RAM or higher [1][2]
  • 500 GB hard drive or higher (SCSI: 15000 RPM, SATA: 10000 RPM)
  • 30 GB or higher of free disk space (8 GB free disk space for installation)
  • 512 MB DRAM or higher OpenGL®-capable graphics card
  • 24-bit color setting at 1,280 x 1,024 or higher screen resolution
  • DVD-ROM drive[3]
  • Microsoft® mouse-compliant pointing device
  • Web browser
  • Internet connection for web downloads and Subscription Aware Access

For 32-bit and 64-bit Linux[4]

  • Red Hat® Enterprise v6.2
  • Pentium 4 (2 GHz CPU speed or faster), Xeon, Core, Athlon II, Opteron, or later[1]
  • 2 GB RAM or higher[1]
  • 30 GB or higher of free disk space (80 MB free disk space for installation)
  • CD-ROM drive[3]

  1. For superior performance, Autodesk recommends Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit: SP1), an Intel or AMD 64-bit quad-core processor, and 16 GB RAM or higher.
  2. Autodesk recommends settings that allow Windows to manage virtual memory, as needed. There should always be at least twice as much free hard disk space as system memory (RAM).
  3. Autodesk Simulation Mechanical software is only available on CD and DVD media or electronic download. CD-ROM and DVD-ROM drives are not required if installing via electronic download.
  4. The Autodesk Simulation Mechanical user interface is not supported on Linux platforms.
