Error Message—Compact Thermal Model Errors

Issue

A Compact Thermal Model material is assigned to a part. Upon startup, one or more of the following errors is issued:

(Error 1): Theta JB is less than or equal to 0

(Error 2): Theta JC is less than or equal to 0

(Error 3): The surface part conductivity between the board and the CTM is less than or equal to 0

Solution

All of these issues are material property settings. Modify them using the Material Editor. (Click Edit on the Material task).

(Error 1) Theta JB is the conductivity between the junction and the board. The value must be greater than 0 to make physical sense. To resolve, assign a value greater than 0 for Theta JB.

(Error 2) Theta JC is the conductivity between the junction and the case. Its value must be greater than 0 to make physical sense. To resolve, assign a value greater than 0 for Theta JC, the resistance between the junction and the case

(Error 3) A surface part is placed between the PCB and the Compact Thermal Model. The thermal conductivity assigned to this part must be greater or equal to zero. To resolve, adjust the thermal conductivity of the surface part to be greater than 0.
