Error Message—Analysis Model could not be loaded owing to Interfering Parts

Issue

When launching from CAD, one of the following errors is issued:

Analysis model could not be loaded owing to interfering parts; a substitute representation has been loaded to assist with visualization. Check the output bar or <model log file> for a list of vertices near the interfering parts

Analysis model could not be loaded owing to interfering parts; a substitute representation has been loaded to assist with visualization. Check the output bar or <model log file> for a list of parts where an interference has been detected

Analysis model could not be loaded owing to interfering parts; a substitute representation has been loaded to assist with visualization. Check the output bar or <model log file> for a list of these parts

Solution

All three variations of this message mean that one or more interferences were detected in the geometry.

For models launched from Pro/Engineer, interferences must be resolved before launching.

For models launched from Parasolid- or Acis-based CAD systems, interferences are allowed. However, this error means that a problem in the geometry is preventing a successful launch. A test is applied to all models to ensure that the meshable ("non-manifold") version contains the same number of parts as the original CAD model. If a discrepancy is found, this error is issued.

When this error occurs, the model is displayed, but is cannot be meshed. Suspected problem locations are marked with an orange dot, and the locations of problems are written to the "_model" log file (in the _logs subfolder of the working directory). (If the dots are difficult to see, turn off the mesh seeds from the Display menu.
