2011: The License System Failed to Initialise

Issue

This issue effects Ecotect 2011 installed on XP systems when no other Autodesk products are installed.  When Ecotect Analysis 2011 is first started the Autodesk License manager (adlmint.dll) may fail to start.    When the error occurs, the following dialog will appear:



You will also see the following error in the Systems Event Log:

“Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC80.CRT could not be found and Last Error was The referenced assembly is not installed on your system.”

Solution

Complete the following steps to address the error:

  1. Exit Ecotect Analysis 2011.
  2. Download and install the Microsoft Visual  C++ 2005 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86) from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=200b2fd9-ae1a-4a14-984d-389c36f85647
  3. Start Ecotect Analysis 2011 and go through the activation process as documented in the Ecotect “Readme and Installation Guide”.
