Downloading Product Upgrades from Subscription Center FAQ

How will I receive software upgrades?

Most Subscription customers will receive software upgrades via download, while some will receive a boxed shipment as their primary delivery method. Please see our Country List for Subscription Upgrade Fulfillment Delivery to view the delivery method in your Country.


What is the process for getting my upgrade?

When upgrading your Autodesk product to the most recent version, you'll need to go through the entire download, installation and activation process using your new serial number and product key.

For Subscription Customers, you can do this directly from within your Subscription Center account.

What if I need a physical media for my software upgrade?

Software Coordinators and Contract Managers can request a physical shipment in Subscription Center for the most current version. You may also request a box through your Autodesk reseller after the product has been released.


Can all Subscription customers download software from Subscription Center?

Yes, all Subscription Customers Worldwide can download all of their products, upgrades, and related assets directly from Subscription Center, even if you receive a physical shipment.

Note: Software Coordinators have the ability to allow or deny download access to their end users.


When will I be notified that new software upgrades are available?

All products, upgrades, and other assets released during the year will be available for download directly from Subscription Center on the First Customer Ship (FCS) date, which varies by product, region, and language.  

Software Coordinators will receive an email from Autodesk when a software upgrade is available.  If you can’t find the email, check your Spam folder or your Junk folder in your email application.


Which products will be available for download?

All Autodesk product and suite releases, will be available for download to Subscription Customers Worldwide directly from Subscription Center.


Where can I find my serial number and product key?

You can find your serial number and product key directly in the Subscription Center download page.

Software Coordinators or Contract Managers can also find this information by running a Coverage Report in Subscription Center.


Is software download available for new software purchases?

Yes, new products purchased with Autodesk Subscription will follow the same process as product upgrades.


Can I access my product after my Subscription contract expires?

You have a grace period of 30 days after your Subscription contract expires during which time you can request product media using the link on Subscription Center. After the 30-day grace period, you will be able to download only versions of your licensed software.


Is there a cost to request a box?

No, there is no additional cost to receive a boxed shipment.


Can I download previous versions of software?

Yes, Subscription Customers Worldwide can downoad previous versions—up to three releases back—of Autodesk software (some terms and conditions apply) directly from Subscription Center.

Can I download multiple files, multiple times?

Yes, you can download multiple files at the same time. Also the same file can be downloaded multiple times from the same or different machines.


What software download methods are available?

There are three software download methods:

Download Now—Download Now is assisted by Autodesk Download Manager (DLM). The DLM-assisted download is recommended for most users, as it provides faster downloads, a streamlined user experience, and useful controls to pause and resume the download if required.

Install Now—With Install Now, you select only the products and components you want, saving considerable download time. The Autodesk installer starts directly from the Web, without having to wait for all files to download.

Browser Download—Browser Download is recommended only for customers who cannot, or prefer not to, have file download utilities installed on their computer. This method is slower and less reliable, as files are downloaded and extracted separately in 4 GB segments.


How long does it take to download software?

Download times vary as a function of product size and Internet connection speed. Actual time estimates are presented soon after the start of the download.

Note: It may take a few moments for an accurate estimate to display in the Download Manager application.


Can I save a copy of my software to a DVD or USB drive?

Yes, Subscription customers may save a copy of their software onto a DVD or USB drive to help with installation on multiple computer systems if licensing rights allow.


What if my Internet access is restricted?

Although downloading from Subscription Center is the most reliable way to keep your Autodesk products current, we recognize that national or corporate restrictions on Internet use can present a major obstacle to product downloads.

In such cases, your Software Coordinator will need to request a physical media shipment from Subscription Center or you can contact your Reseller to have them ship a boxed product to you.


Are there any limitations on file size?

All product downloads from Subscription Center are compressed and optimized for rapid and reliable download speed, using the Autodesk Download Manager. For Browser Download, products that exceed 4 GB are split into separate files and then reassembled when the download is complete.


What should I do to get the best download performance?

To get the best download performance, we recommend following the below steps:

  • Use Internet Explorer 8 or 9, Firefox, Chrome or Safari to access Subscription Center.
  • In the preferences or options area of your preferred browser, remove pop-up blockers and allow access to all *autodesk.com sites.
  • In the preferences or options area of your preferred browser, delete cookies, temporary internet files, and history.
  • Turn off your personal firewall or VPN, if you use one.
  • Close and reopen your preferred browser.

Note: Internet Explorer 10 is not currently compatible with Subscription Center and as a result may not function properly. If you're using Internet Explorer 10, we recommend adding Autodesk.com to your Compatibility View Settings as described below:

  • Hold down Alt-T, select Compatibility View Settings
  • Add "autodesk.com".

If you still experience any issues, we recommend using one of the above Internet Browsers.
