2012: Unexpected installer launches

Issue

When you launch an application that is not AutoCAD Map 3D 2012 you receive a message from the Windows Installer stating the following:

 

"Please wait while Windows configures AutoCAD Map 3D 2012."

 

is displayed while the non Autodesk application is launched.

 

The Windows Application Log will also have this entry:

 

"Detection of product '{5783F2D7-8002-0409-0002-0060B0CE6BBA}', feature 'P', component '{43DB808E-EDB6-4FBC-A37D-41E59D400FCA}' failed. The resource 'C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Geospatial Coordinate Systems Temp2012\Australia\Agd66\A66National(13.09.01).gsb' does not exist."

Solution

This attempt to heal Map 3D 2012 is benign and can be suppressed by following these instructions:

 

1. In Windows Explorer browse to:

     XP: "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\"

     Vista or Windows 7: "C:\ProgramData\Autodesk"

2. Right-click "Geospatial Coordinate Systems" and choose copy.

3. Right-click a blank space in the right pane and choose paste.

4. Wait until the copy process is complete.

5. Rename "Copy of Geospatial Coordinate Systems" to "Geospatial Coordinate Systems Temp2012".

 

Note: that Vista and Windows 7 protect this folder with extra security. An administrator will need to perform these steps.
