Backburner renders but will not write image file

Issue

When using backburner to render a scene, the files are rendered but not written out

Solution

Here are the steps to troubleshoot this issue:

  1. Try to render the scene locally.  This will confirm that the problem is with the backburner setup and not within the file.
  2. In the Backburner Renderer options, it is recommended to use "From the scene file", and setup the scenes Render Settings (Window -> Rendering Editors -> Render Settings) to fit your needs.
  3. By default, the file path will be set after you have set the Project directory in Maya, and this will be where Backburner writes the rendered file.
  4. If you want to use a custom image path :
    • First make sure that the project is set and saved.
    • Then inside the Backburner option window you will first want to set all of your options.
    • Once the options are set to your liking, check “Use Custom Command” and a Populate Command button will appear.
    • Click on the button and it will generate a command for the options you have chosen. Inside the command after “–rd”, in quotations is the location where the images will be written, you can modify this location in order to write the images somewhere else. After that has been modified, you can submit the Backburner job.
