Upside down picture on the broadcast monitor

Problem

The picture on your broadcast monitor is upside down, although the AJA card is correctly wired to the monitor, and the monitor is properly configured.

Solution

This issue occurs when multiple applications, including Smoke, are using the AJA Kona card. The issue is that the AJA card does not reset itself when you switch between applications.

Rebooting your Mac eliminates this problem and brings your broadcast monitor picture back to normal.

Perform the following tasks to solve this issue without rebooting your Mac.

  1. Exit any applications that are using the AJA card.

  2. Open the AJA control panel from the Applications folder.

  3. Click the Control tab.

  4. Set the value of the "Default Video Output" option to "Test Pattern".

  5. Close the AJA control panel.
The AJA card will now reset itself correctly when switching between applications, and you should no longer see an upside down picture in the broadcast monitor.
