InfoCenter process prevents Product from starting

Issue

You restart an Autodesk 2011 product (after having run it earlier on your machine) and it begins to launch and then freezes and is totally unresponsive.

Solution

There have been reported cases where the process that runs InfoCenter (wscommcntr2.exe) is not getting shut down when closing a session of an Autodesk 2011 product.  If the wscommcntr2.exe process is still running when the product is relaunched it can prevent it from starting up.  This can also prevent the Installer from running if you were trying to uninstall the product.

The workaround for this issue is to kill the wscommcntr2.exe process in the Task Manager.  If you launch the Task Manager and you still see wscommcntr2.exe in the process list - even though the product is not running - select the process and choose "End Process".  This will terminate the running process and allow the product to launch again.
