You want to know how to properly borrow a license in Navisworks 2011.
Solution
With the addition of the Ribbon interface in Navisworks 2011, the positioning of the borrow function changed. The following steps will define the new process.
Borrow a license in Navisworks 2011:
If you are using a laptop, eject from your docking station. (you may need to reconnect to your network).
Open Navisworks.
On the top-right of the Navisworks window, there is a “?” mark with a drop-down arrow next to it. Click the drop-down arrow and click “About Navisworks Manage 2011”.
Click “Product Information”.
Click “Borrow License”.
Select the date the license will be automatically returned to the server.
Click “Borrow License”.
A confirmation window will display if the borrow was successful.
It is recommended that you borrow your licenses for as short a period as necessary. Damaged or lost machines may cause your license to be unavailable until the expiration of the borrow period.
