Backburner will not work on Windows 7 as a service

Issue

You have setup Backburner as a service on a Windows 7 computer and you have turned on your Firewall. The computer listed in the Backburner Monitor will be absent.

Solution

You have configured Backburner to be a service as noted in the Backburner Documentation. After creating an account and you have added a log in username for the Service, you will need to log in to that account so that it will built the appropriate user profile in C:\Users.

You will need to add the following applications as an exception in Firewall Control Panel.

  • serversvc.exe <All computers>
  • managersvc.exe <On manager computer>

To add the program as an exception to the Firewall service, you will need to open the Windows Firewall  and set the following:

Under the Actions section, Select Add Rule.

Select Program.

Select This program path:

Navigate to serversvc.exe.

Select Allow the Connection

Apply the rule as noted.

Label the rule.
