Autodesk Algor Simulation 2011 installation will hang on Windows VISTA and 7

Issue

You are trying to install Autodesk Algor Simulation 2011, and the installation will appear to hang at some point on Windows VISTA and 7 operating systems. The InCAD installation dialog may appear behind the main installation dialog, causing one to believe the application has hung. There may be up to five different InCAD installation windows that may appear behind the main installation window:

  • Pro/ENGINEER Installation Utility
  • KeyCreator Installation Utility
  • Mechanical Desktop Installation Utility
  • CoCreate Installation Utility
  • SpaceClaim Installation Utility

Solution

You can continue the installation process by locating the InCAD icon in the taskbar (see Figure 1).  Select the icon and go through the InCAD setup process, then finish the installation.  These steps may need to be repeated for each of the five InCAD installation windows.  (These windows may not appear on your computer if the CAD package is not installed to your computer.)
