Determine if Autodesk® License Manager (AdLM) has started

Issue

When using lmtools.exe, it is not always clear that the Autodesk® License Manager (AdLM) has started. For example: In the LMTOOLS dialog box on the Start/Stop/ReRead tab, you click Start Server, and the following message is displayed: "Server Starting" However, this message continues to be displayed, and it is unclear if the AdLM server has actually started.

Solution

To determine if the AdLM server has started:

  1. In the LMTOOLS dialog box, click the Server Status tab.
  2. Select the Display Everything option.
  3. Click Perform Status Enquiry.

If the server has started, the Status Enquiry indicates the total number of licenses available, as shown in the following figure:

* Note: The data in "Bold" was changed to make the solution universal.
