Known limitations with AutoCAD 2010 products on Windows 7

Issue

You want to know what limitations have been identified for AutoCAD® 2010 or AutoCAD 2010-based vertical products running on Microsoft Windows 7.

Solution

Windows 7 was released in October of 2009—seven months after the release of AutoCAD 2010. As such, Windows 7 was still in beta when AutoCAD 2010 products were being released and could not be fully tested for compatibility.

The following issues were identified for the initial release version of AutoCAD 2010 products running on Windows 7. These issues should not apply to AutoCAD 2011 products or later.

All Autodesk Products:

AutoCAD® 2010 and all AutoCAD 2010-based vertical products:

  • Infocenter balloons sometimes display blank
  • Dragging Ribbon tabs sometimes crashes the product
  • Encrypted files fail to open and save on Windows 7
  • Open files do not appear on Windows 7 Jumplist
  • Export to Impression functionality will not work because Autodesk Impression is not supported on Windows 7
  • Cursor performance issues when hardware acceleration is turned off

AutoCAD Architectural 2010 and AutoCAD Mechanical 2010:

  • Text in the Drafting Settings dialog overlaps radio buttons

Graphics Card Support for Windows 7:

Please refer to the Graphics Hardware List for more information on supported graphics cards in Windows 7.
