Windows 7 Support for AutoCAD and AutoCAD LTIssueYou want to know what versions of AutoCAD® and AutoCAD LT® work with Microsoft Windows® 7 operating system. SolutionWindows 7 was released in October of 2009—seven months after the release of AutoCAD 2010. As such, Windows 7 was still in beta when AutoCAD 2010 products were being released and could not be fully tested for compatibility. Some minor limitations have been found when working with Windows 7 and AutoCAD 2010 products. For a description of these limitations, please refer to the technical solution: Known Limitations with Windows 7 for AutoCAD and AutoCAD-based Products AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT versions released after Windows 7 are compatible and fully supported for Windows 7 by Autodesk. Autodesk does not officially support 2009 and older versions of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT on Windows 7. If you choose to run older versions of AutoCAD on the Windows 7 operating system, you may opt to use Windows compatibility mode. If you use third-party add-ons to AutoCAD, check with their software manufacturers to discover whether they are compliant with Windows 7. You may also ask manufacturers of your printer/plotter, mouse, or digitizer whether you need to update your drivers for these devices. If you migrate to Windows 7, Autodesk recommends that you reinstall your AutoCAD software. This will not cause any licensing problems, but will help ensure that your AutoCAD software runs properly. Moving to Windows 7 will not jeopardize your AutoCAD customizations. Backup any customization using transfer/export from the CUI menu to a backup location and then import them back in to the new installation. Please refer to your product’s help files for more information on moving customizations from one computer to another if needed. Note: For AutoCAD-based vertical products, please refer to the knowledge base for details on support and known issues with Windows 7.
