SolutionWhen you get this message, the first thing to check is your license server. - Start LMTOOLS.
- On the Start/Stop/ReRead tab, click Start Server.
- On the Server Status tab, and click Perform Status Enquiry.
You want to verify the following: - The "License server status" is UP.
- The "Vendor daemon status" is UP.
- The "Feature usage info" lists your licenses.

If your license server is UP, then please try the following troubleshooting tips:
If you are running on Vista In C:\Softimage\Softimage_7.5\adlm\licenses\Autodesk.lic, try replacing the computer name with the IP address of your computer. The Autodesk.lic file should look like this: SERVER <license-server> 000000000000
VENDOR adskflex port=2080
USE_SERVER
Where <license-server> is the IP address of the license server computer.
On Vista, IPv6 is enabled by default, and IPv6 causes problems with the license request from Softimage to the license server. There is a Hotfix available that will allow you use the host name in the Autodesk.lic file. - Make sure that Autodesk.lic has one SERVER line only.
- Disable any firewalls and try to start Softimage. If Softimage starts, then turn the firewall back on and unblock the ports 2080 and 27000-27009.
