MapExport to SHP creates an empty fileIssueWhen you use the MAPEXPORT command to export to an ESRI Shape file (*.shp), the resulting SHP file is empty. SolutionThe Export dialog box used when exporting to a SHP file is missing the section that allows you to select the Object Type (Point, Line, Polygon, or Text).
Even if you pick objects from the screen or use the Select All option, the objects will be filtered out because the Object Type is not set.
To resolve this problem:
1. First go into following directory and delete MapExport.ini file you find in there (this is important step) and confirm there is none: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\C3D 2010
- (in Windows Vista & Windows 7)
C:\Program Data\Autodesk\C3D 2010
2. Then download the included MapExport.ini file and copy it to following folder on your hard drive: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\C3D 2010
- (in Windows Vista & Windows 7)
C:\Program Data\Autodesk\C3D 2010
3. Restart Civil 3D Note: This solutions works for AutoCAD Civil 3D 2009, AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 and AutoCAD Civil 2010.
