Rendering only objects in current view or linked file

When you render views, you have noticed that all daylight portals or lights in the project are calculated, even if they are located outside the view. In addition, in projects that contain linked files, all lights and daylight portals are calculated for the linked files as well.

Revit will calculate lights and daylight portals during the rendering process even if they are located outside the view. For projects containing linked files, you cannot selectively turn on or off daylight portals or lights.

As a workaround, you can use a section box to control which objects will be calculated for rendering. Only objects that are located inside the section box will be calculated. Follow these steps:

  1. Right-click in the specific view.
  2. Select the Section Box check box.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Adjust the section box, if needed.

To adjust the section box from outside the view

  1. Open the view where the camera was added.
  2. Right-click the specific 3D view, use “Show Camera” and “Show Section Box” to adjust the settings before entering the view.
