The Rendering library is not available

During the startup of Revit®, you received the following warning message:

The Rendering library is not installed. Rendering features will be disabled.

There are a few things that could cause this error message to appear:

  • Make sure your computer meet the minimum system requirements, specifically the processor requirement must be met in order to use the rendering capabilities. For additional information, refer to the System Requirements for Revit.
  • Rendering is only available in camera or 3D views. Keep in mind the Rendering features are disabled in other views, such as plan or elevation. The Show Rendering Dialog icon will only be visible in these view types.
  • Make sure that you select the Rendering check box on the Content Selection page of the Installation wizard during the installation or deployment creation. By default, this option is not selected for Revit Structure or Revit MEP. For additional information, refer to the Installation Instruction manual.
  • Click Settings menu > Options and, on the Rendering tab, verify that the Rendering Appearance Library Location points to the correct location. It should find the assetlibrary_base.fbx file, whose default path is as follows:

    Revit 2009

    “\Revit Architecture 2009\Data\Rendering\assetlibrary_base.fbx”

    Revit 2010

    “\Autodesk Revit Architecture 2010\Data\Rendering\assetlibrary_base.fbx”

If the assetlibrary_base.fbx file is not available on your computer. Follow these steps

  8. Click OK.
  9. Exit Revit Architecture, so the changes can be updated.
  10. Restart Revit Architecture 2009.
