Clean uninstall of Autodesk Inventor 2009

Issue

You may experience problems when installing Autodesk® Inventor™ after failed installs or uninstalls of other Autodesk products.

In these cases, it is strongly recommended that you completely remove Inventor from the system and then attempt a new installation on the cleaned system.

Solution

To uninstall Autodesk Inventor and remove any remnants of this product from the system, follow these steps:

  1. Log on to Windows as a Local System Administrator and disable any virus-scanning programs.
  2. In Windows Control Panel, double-click Add or Remove Programs and then remove Autodesk Inventor 2009.
  3. Using Windows Explorer, locate and delete the following folders as appropriate:

    Microsoft Vista 64-bit installations

    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    Microsoft Vista 32-bit installations

    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    Microsoft XP 32-bit installations

    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\ Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    Microsoft XP 64-bit installations

    • C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
    • C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Inventor 2009
  4. Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
  5. In the Run dialog box, enter regedit
  6. In the Registry Editor, locate and delete the following registry keys as appropriate:

    32-bit versions of Vista and XP

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion13.x
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\ Inventor\RegistryVersion13.
    64-bit versions of Vista and XP

    • HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Autodesk\Inventor\RegistryVersion13.x
    • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Autodesk\ Inventor\RegistryVersion13.x

You will now have a clean system on which you can install Autodesk Inventor.

Note: If Vault is installed, you will need to perform a change/repair in Add or Remove Programs (Windows) to fix the integration.
