Manually installing a node locked license string

Issue

I have received a node locked license string, and cannot use the Product Configuration Wizard to install the license.
 
Solution


A license string looks similar to the following:


FEATURE MayaUnltd sgiawd 7.000 10-may-2006 \

                 uncounted AB08331BB389 \

                 HOSTID=003448bec49f


Save the your license string into a plain text file called  aw.dat and place it in the FlexLM folder.


The FlexLM folder can be found at these locations:


Windows:


  1. Save the license file to  your desktop
    2. 

  2. Click on START
    3. 

  3. Click on RUN
    4. 

  4. Type in  "c:\FlexLM"
    5. 

  5. Press Enter
    6. 

  6. Drag and drop the file  into the window that opens up
    7. 

  7. Try to launch Maya


Mac:


  1. Open the Finder
    2. 

  2. Click on the menu  heading Go > Goto Folder
    3. 

  3. Type in /var/flexlm
    4. 

  4. Click on Go
    5. 

  5. Drag and drop the  license file into that folder
    6. 

  6. You may need to  Authenticate before you can complete the drop
    7. 

  7. Try to launch Maya
