Repair and Generate Utilities for incorrect DWF association

Issue

It is possible in certain situations for incorrect DWF associations to occur in Vault or Productstream. The 2008 release of Vault and Productstream prevent further occurrences of this problem that can be caused by known issues. The 2009 release of Vault and Productstream provide additional DWF management tools. However, it is strongly recommended that the diagnostic utility (DWFRepair) be run against existing data to assess whether further action needs to be taken.

Solution

Synopsis README:

TS1069366 (ADMS 5_SP1):  This hotfix addresses an Inventor check-in issue when a DWF publishing error causes a DWF file to be created locally, but not checked into the vault.  The checked in 2D/3D file may become associated with its prior DWF version in the vault, if any.

DWFRepair:  Utilizing this utility in 'fix' mode will remove specific file to DWF associations in the vault possibly caused by DWF publishing failure reasons stated above.

TS1070728 (ADMS 5_SP1):  This hotfix adds ADMS-required API support for the DWFGenerate utility to search for and publish  appropriate DWFs in a Vault.

DWFGenerate:  This publishing utility searches for missing DWFs in a vault and publishes DWFs for latest released item revisions and latest file versions without revisioning/versioning the same.

ADMS 5_SP1 Users

1. TS1069366:  Apply this data management hotfix on both clients and server(s) to prevent further invalid file to DWF associations in vault. Follow its README for detailed instructions.
2. DWFRepair:  Run the utility in 'report' mode to get a list of 2D/3D files whose DWF associations will be removed.  Run it again in 'fix' mode to perform cleanup.  Alternatively, run it in 'fixandreport' mode to do both tasks at once. Follow its README for detailed instructions.
3. TS1070728:  Server-side hotfix that adds ADMS-required API support for the DWFGenerate utility. Follow its README for detailed instructions.
4. DWFGenerate:  Run this utility to re-create DWFs and re-add removed DWFRepair associations for latest released item revisions and latest file versions without revisioning/versioning the files. Follow its README for detailed instructions.

ADMS 2008_SP1 Users

Installation Instructions

1. For ADMS 5 Users, make sure that Service Pack 1 has been installed.
2. Download the correct version of the Repair and Generate Utilities for incorrect DWF association
   • ADMS 5 - Autodesk ADMS5 DWF.zip
   • ADMS 2008 - Autodesk ADMS2008 DWF.zip
   • ADMS 2009 - Autodesk ADMS2009 DWF.zip
3. Extract the zip file to a temporary directory and leave the file folder structure intact.
