Administrative privileges error occurs when running AutoCAD® 2008-based programs as a restricted userIssueWhen you tried to run an AutoCAD® 2008-based program as a limited or restricted user, the following error message was displayed: Error :: Installation of <ProductName> requires Administrator Privileges. Please log in with administrator rights before attempting installation of <ProductName>.
SolutionIf you are installing from a network or multi-seat standalone deployment Download the following hotfix, which prevents this problem from occurring: http://usa.autodesk.com/getdoc/id=DL10189734 This hotfix will resolve the problem when the software is installed, and the following solution will not be necessary. If you are using a standalone version of AutoCAD® This error may occur if a restricted user attempts to start the program using the Start menu icon. The Start menu shortcuts advertise features that a restricted user cannot install. This error will not occur if the Desktop shortcut is used to start the product instead. This problem can be resolved by creating a new Start menu icon as follows: - Using Windows Explorer, browse to the following folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Start Menu\Programs\Autodesk\<ProductName>
Note: <ProductName> is the actual name of the product in question (for example, AutoCAD® 2008).
- Delete the product shortcut located in this folder.
- Copy the Desktop shortcut for your product to this folder.
- Test that the user can now successfully start the product from the Start menu.
