Error: Failed to set Map Plot Transparency
You were logged on to Windows with a user account that does not have Administrator or Power User permissions. When you tried to use the MAPPLOTTRANSPARENCY variable to plot Display Manager layers with transparency, you received the following error message:
Failed to set Map Plot Transparency
The MAPPLOTTRANSPARENCY variable is stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive of the Windows Registry. In order to modify this value, you need to have Administrator or Power User rights. Otherwise, an error will occur.
In order to enable transparency for users without Administrator rights, an Administrator must grant them permission to modify the AcMap Registry key. Follow these steps:
- Log on to Windows as an Administrator.
- Click Start menu (Windows) > Run.
- In the Run dialog box, enter regedit
- In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key:
- Right-click this key. Click Permissions.
- In the Permissions dialog box, select the desired group or user names, and then click Full Control.
- Click OK.
- Close the Registry Editor.
These users can now edit the MAPPLOTTRANSPARENCY variable.
Warning! Problems caused by improperly editing the Windows registry could render your computer operating system unusable. Microsoft provides a wealth of critical information that you need to know about the registry in the Microsoft Knowledge Base.
Use the Microsoft® Registry Editor only at your own risk and only after backing up the registry as well as the system.dat and user.dat files as outlined for your operating system in the Microsoft Knowledge Base and in the related Autodesk solution, TS66513.
