Rules and Regulations India BIM Student Competition

The following rules will govern the India BIM Student Competition:

  • The competition is open to fulltime students enrolled in All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) approved architecture, civil engineering, construction engineering and related fields. Students from 3-year and 4-year degree programs along with post-graduate students are eligible to form teams and participate in this competition. Individual students are not eligible as students can only participate in teams. Teams of 3 students are eligible to participate in the competition (individual submissions or different team compositions are not allowed). It is highly encouraged but not required that teams are cross-disciplinary from the same institution. Team members should be from the same institution.
  • This Contest is eligible and open to individuals 18 years and above.
  • There is no limit on the number of teams from an Institution.
  • A team should comprise for 3 students.
  • A team can have members from different disciplines like 2 from Civil & 1 from Architecture.
  • There is no limit on the number of teams from an Institution.
  • Before Registration, please ensure you have your team members ready.
  • The Last date for Registering to the I-BIM competition is 31st of July 2011; no exceptions will be made.
  • Information provided on the online form must be true and accurate.
  • The I-BIM Competition, Design brief would be available on the I-BIM website on 1st August 2011; no exceptions will be made.
  • The teams, who have registered before 1st of August 2011, can only submit their design later on.
  • The Last date for submitting the Design is 31st August 2011.
  • Once a team is registered in the I-BIM Competition its composition cannot be altered in any way. One team can submit one Design only.
  • Additional Design Criteria:
    1. Use of Sustainable Design Principles
    2. Actual Scalability and Affordability
    3. Use of the Autodesk BIM Products i.e. Revit Architecture and Revit Structure
  • The Products can be downloaded from the Autodesk Education Community (http://students.autodesk.com/). Please feel free to register and download the free products available.
  • Entries must be student's work. Professors/Lectures may be consulted and referenced, but may not be a major contributor to the actual work.
  • All entrants must zip the following elements into a single ZIP file.
    1. Three (3) jpegs or pdf of different design stages (one must be final design)
    2. Design files (.rvt files)
    3. One (1) PDF of final design (Explaining about the Design) the Judging panel will include members from academia and industry.
  • The Judging Panel will check all the submissions done and then the regional selection of teams for the competition would be selected and the team members would be notified.
  • Judges have the right to reject a submission, if they believe it does not fit in with the competition's selected theme.
  • Once the submissions are done by the team. For the Regional & National level competition the team members should be present for the oral briefing before the judging Panel on the dates provided.
  • Oral Presentation for the Regional and National Level finalists will present a twenty (20) minute oral report followed by a ten (10) minute question/answer period.
  • The project presentation must be done in PowerPoint of up to 10 slides. Include short synopsis with images of final design with jpeg of top and side view.
  • By entering, teams imply an understanding that while only highly rated entries will receive awards and that all judging parties will be thorough and impartial, evaluating entries is inherently subjective.
  • Judges selection of Awards, once awarded, are final.
  • The travel and lodging expense for the selected Regional and National Level teams would be borne by the I_BIM forum.
  • Each of top three Regional Level winners will be awarded with a cash prize and a certificate.
  • Each of the National Level Winners will be awarded with a cash prize and a certificate and the Champion team in the National Level wins a trip to Autodesk University 2011 in Las Vegas US.
  • All decisions regarding the contest will be made solely at the discretion of the I-BIM, Technology Partner & Academia partner. These partners reserve the right to change or amend procedures during the contest so as to ensure its viability. All decisions made by the partners are final.
  • All parts of the competition will be conducted in English.

Any failure to follow the rules and regulations stated below may make an entry ineligible to enter the contest and ineligible to win prizes associated with the contest.
