The Autodesk® Flame® Premium 2013 20th Anniversary Edition is a natural evolution of what has made Autodesk® Flame® post-production software a leader in high-end finishing. With a major redesign, the 20th Anniversary Edition integrates the powerful 3D VFX (visual effects) toolset of Flame 2013 software with the story-driven editorial workflow of Autodesk® Smoke® Advanced 2013. With this powerful post-production software artists can work faster when tackling today’s tough creative 3D finishing challenges.
New Creative Workspace
A tightly integrated creative environment brings together the Desktop, Timeline, and Batch toolsets, enabling you to more easily find and aggregate source material, move between creative toolsets for editing and 3D VFX creation, and output finished projects.
Faster Access to Creative Toolsets
A new task-based workflow places the main visual effects and finishing tasks at the forefront of the user interface, where you can now access your media management, conform, editorial, and 3D VFX toolsets with one click. You can also now browse, drag and drop media, create your own folders for organization, and easily move clips with the new Media Panel. Always visible, the customizable folder structure of the Media Panel helps you handle the clips you use in the Desktop, Timeline, and Batch.
Redesigned Timeline Workflow
Oversee entire projects, more easily create consistent looks, and correctly match graded and 3D VFX shots to editorial intention using the redesigned Timeline. With a rich multilayer editorial feature set for building timelines from scratch or matching offline cuts, the newly integrated Timeline now sits at the top level of the user interface. More easily open multiple sequences for brainstorming and versioning; apply visual effects to segments, source timelines, vertical edits, or gaps; and promote SoftFX to BatchFX.
Enhanced Flame Desktop Reels
Quickly develop creative ideas in the highly responsive Desktop. Now tightly integrated with the Timeline and Batch, the Desktop features the ability to drag multiple clips directly to the Timeline and Batch, an unlimited number of reels that can be toggled for optimized viewing, a new storyboard view, and new context menus.
Faster Compositing and 3D VFX Development in Batch and Action
Increase efficiency with a better workflow and faster performance when building visual effects in Batch and Action. More quickly add sources via the new Media Panel. Convert a Batch tree into a BFX clip for editing and to improve performance. Organize Batch tree contents with better selection capabilities, and save Batch snapshots for versioning. Plus, the re-engineered Batch GPU/CPU processing pipeline speeds up rendering operations in Batch, BatchFX, and Action, and provides better interactivity and playback performance.
Unified Approach to Media Management
Designed for faster browsing, easier organization, and tighter integration with the creative tools in Flame Premium 2013, the new MediaHub consolidates media management tools into a single area. Browse, search, organize, export multiple files at once, resize and apply LUTs (lookup tables) to files on import, and apply presets, from one central location.
Access an extensive set of conforming and troubleshooting tools in a new single task-based area. With tight integration between the timeline, event list, and media, you can now relink faster, troubleshoot more effectively, and more efficiently aggregate the final timeline. Visual cues, a color-code event list, one-click relinking of matched shots, and an integrated player for shot verification all help to conform timelines and resolve issues quickly.
Modern Color Management
More easily mix footage from digital cinema cameras, film scans, and video with new support for ACES, the Academy Color Encoding System 16-bit file format for digital motion picture production, mastering, and archiving. A new optimized floating-point color processing engine uses the Academy/ASC color transform format and provides the color transforms needed to convert between the ACES reference color space and a wide variety of input and output devices. This enables better creative feedback by providing an accurate and consistent representation of floating-point linear color spaces across editing, 3D VFX, and grading.
New in Extension 2, Flame Premium 2013 now supports native decoding of the Apple® ProRes format, ranked as one of the top feature requests. Flame Premium 2013 also supports native playback of the Sony F65 file format through the color transforms needed to bring the format into the Flame Premium ACES-compliant color space.
Tangent Element: Color Grading Control at Your Fingertips*
Now use the Tangent Element modular control panel across the entire Flame Premium suite. Along with controlling the color grading toolset, you can now use the panel for timeline transport and color correction.
