Health benefits - Robins & Morton
Over the last 50 years, Robins & Morton has completed more than 1,000 construction projects for the health-care industry. One recent project is the 101-bed Carolinas Medical Center-Lincoln Replacement Hospital in Lincolnton, North Carolina. Robins & Morton made extensive use of Autodesk® 3D software for Building Information Modeling (BIM) on the $54 million facility, which comprises four operating rooms and two patient floors, together with a maternity center, critical care unit, on-site laboratory, pharmacy, as well as complete radiology, imaging, and physical therapy services.
To minimize the costs of field rework, Robins & Morton turned to Autodesk® Revit® Architecture software to create an intelligent model to be shared across the integrated project team. The firm also used Autodesk® Navisworks® Manage software for collaboration, coordination, and clash detection. Using digital, rather than physical, visualizations of patient rooms, the Robins & Morton team and other project stakeholders were able to make more informed and timely decisions, reducing rework, lowering costs, and saving energy and materials.
