About the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth
Use the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension for Google Earth to publish a Google Earth model from your Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 design data. You can publish points, alignments, parcels, pipe networks, corridor models, and surfaces. Data is displayed either draped to the ground model, or positioned at an elevation above the ground model, so you can see how your civil data will appear in the real world.
Installing the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth
The Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth is installed to your current Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 folder locations. You must have Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 Service Pack 2 installed before you can install the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth. Note that this installer supports all language versions of Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2.
To install this Extension:
- Close any open sessions of Autodesk Civil 3D 2007.
- If Service Pack 2 for Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 is not already installed, you must install it prior to installing the SP2 Extension For Google Earth.
- Download C3D2007_GoogleEarthPublisher_R2.zip to a local folder on your computer.
- Unzip the file using WinZip.
- Double-click the setup.exe file to begin the installation.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
The installation process adds a GE Publisher menu to your Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 menu bar. Access the Publish to Google Earth command from this menu.
To use the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth, you should have version 3 or 4 of Google Earth, Google Earth Plus, or Google Earth Pro installed. Google Earth is available from the following website: http://earth.google.com/
Online Help
Online help for the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth is available by clicking the Help buttons in the dialog boxes. The help file, civil_gep.chm, is installed to the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007\data\PublishKML folder.
Known Issues
- Settings are not persistent for restricted users. When using the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth as a restricted user, changes to the settings do not persist between uses of the Publish To Google Earth command.
- If Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 Extension for Google Earth release 1 was previously installed and accordingly uninstalled prior to the installation of Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth, the GE Publisher menu may not be displayed in your Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 menu bar.
To resolve this issue:
- Within a session of Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2, enter CUI on the command line.
- In the CUI dialog box, on the Customize tab, under CIVIL > Workspaces, select Civil 3D, right click, and select Set Current.
Note: The workspace may already be marked as current but you must select it as current again to restore the GE Publisher menu.
- Click OK.
The GE Publisher menu will be displayed in the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 menu bar.
- When attempting to install the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth, you may receive an error message indicating that Service Pack 2 for Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 must be installed even though you have already installed it. Your system likely contains multiple AutoCAD 2007-based products installed such as AutoCAD, Map 3D, Architectural Desktop, Building Systems, or Mechanical Desktop.
To resolve this issue, launch and close Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 just prior to installing the Autodesk Civil 3D 2007 SP2 Extension For Google Earth. This will allow the Extension installation to proceed.
