Performance Car DesignCompany: Holden Special Vehicles Industry: Automotive
Creating Custom-built automobiles for superior power, performance, and style. For over 2 decades, Holden Special Vehicles (HSV) has been creating custom-built, high-performance cars. With a limited production of roughly 4,000 cars a year, each one is painstakingly crafted for superior power, performance, and style. Autodesk® Alias® software products enabled the team to easily translate photogrammetric surface captures and to continually recheck engineering requirements as the surfaces were developed. Conceptual DesignWith the release of the E2 series, HSV set out to modernize the face of the Australian performance vehicle. The design team paired the Pontiac G8 hood with the traditional twin-nostril upper grille to achieve a differentiated look from the original E series. Design Development Digital modeling tools enabled the team to quickly iterate distinctive components, such as the wheels, and make accelerated design decisions. The integration of LED daytime running lamps into the front bumper created a distinctive look that makes HSV E2 vehicles stand out in traffic. Marketing and Advertising HSV used Autodesk® Maya® software to develop animations before physical pilot vehicles were in production, enabling the company to control the release of visuals prior to the official E2 series launch.
